OVERVIEW

One of the examinations that scare students most is Post UTME. This is particularly because they are just an inch away from gaining admission. Imagine facing the horrors that come with JAMB and conquering only to be drawn back when you have already started to see yourself in your matriculation gown. It hurts really. Nobody wants to be in that situation but then, there’ll always be people who will not pass the exam. Why? It is not really because they do not read or because they are not enthusiastic about passing. It is mostly because they do not know enough secrets. This is why we at Afrigrades have decided to share these eight secrets with you.

1. STOP PROCRASTINATING
Man’s greatest need in life is not money but time. In fact, if we all lived a thousand years, we would not bother about being rich at 23. The shortness of time is what usually drives us into this rat race. Remember, time is short. It has never been and will never be your friend. Stop procrastinating that you’ll read later. Drop that phone now and read. The more you wait, the lazier you become about these things. Don’t wait. Do it now. Remember you have 24hours. You’ll sleep for 8. You’ll probably do a whole lot with the others. The little four hours you can squeeze out for yourself, don’t waste them. Use time wisely.

2. STOP DWELLING ON YOUR JAMB SCORE
A wise man once said that those who don’t let go of the past will never know how to harness their present for a better future. What lies ahead is more important. Forget about the past. JAMB is dead and buried. Stop letting it affect your preparation for the forthcoming examination. If you didn’t do well, you have a chance to make it right now. If you did very well, don’t let that success make you relaxed. They are different exams and you can never tell what you’ll see. Just read. Also remember that performing poorly in JAMB has nothing to do with your post UTME performance.

3. KILL PRIDE; ASK QUESTIONS

The problem with a lot of students is pride. Everybody wants to be seen as a scholar without paying the price of learning. You must follow the steps. You can’t jump them. This is your examination at stake here. It determines your future too. Kill your pride and ask people to teach you. Don’t ever assume that you know it all. For example, as an English teacher, I still pay for classes to be taught English. The process doesn’t end. Pay for classes but if you can’t afford them, ask people who know more to teach you. Remember, just ONE question can make you gain admission or lose it. Just ONE.

4. STOP MEMORISING PAST QUESTIONS

This is one of the biggest causes of mass failure in JAMB. Students study past questions and memorise everything. The past question bank is supposed to serve as a guide and also test your level of preparedness. It should never replace your primary texts. Read the text and then, attempt past questions. It should not be the other way round.

5. READ EVERYTHING; DON’T BE SELECTIVE
Honestly, read as many things as you can. There are no hot topics in Post UTME. Anything can form your questions. In fact, the examination doesn’t even have a syllabus. Whatever you have been taught and those you expect to know can form your questions. Even current affairs are not left out. Just read. Don’t be tricked into believing that there are hot topics in Post UTME. Nothing is irrelevant.

6. RELAX; HAVE TIME FOR FUN TOO

Create time for fun. Don’t be overwhelmed with work that you forget to take care of your mental and physical health. Eat well; rest well and play well. Don’t be scared of the examination. As a matter of fact, fear is your greatest enemy in any examination. It can even make you forget the things you read before. So, calm yourself down. Read because you want to pass and not because you’re scared of the examination. It will come and go and you WON’T FAIL IT.

7. PRAY TO GOD ABOUT IT

Examinations are usually not about the best brains. They are a combination of several factors. Also put your exams in prayers. Pray about them but prayer should not replace work. Work first, then commit your work to God to top it with grace. Even the Bible says that faith without works is dead. WORK and PRAY. As the Bible rightly puts it, WATCH AND PRAY. Both go together. If you’re a Christian, pray. If you’re a Muslim, pray. God is interested in your success too.

8. EXPECT SUCCESS; YOU WONT FAIL.
Don’t let failure be an option. Always expect success. You can’t fail. It is impossible.

And yes ALWAYS CHECK OUT OUR SITE FOR MORE NUGGETS AND INFORMATION AS REGARDS YOUR EXAMINATION.
