After a very long wait, Cyano Medical World has finally announced the 2021 edition of her annual medical combat which is set to commence on the 14th of July, 2021. Two years after the last edition, the University of Benin is about to witness another clash of wits, a battle of brains.
The 2019 edition was largely participated in. It featured hundreds of applicants and in the end, as with every battle where a winner emerges, Miss Imutinya-Osa of the Department of Nursing, School of Basic Medical Sciences went home bearing the grand prize of a hundred thousand naira (N100,00.00).
This year, the organisers have promised a bigger prize. According to the founder, Dr. Israel Nmoye, the winner of this year’s edition will be awarded N200,000 while the first and second runner-ups will get N100,000 and N50,000 respectively. This is a whopping 100% increase over the last edition’s prizes.
In Dr. Nmoye’s words, “The medical combat is to reward due passion and promote intellectual activities in the country. It is particularly saddening that social events continue to thrive and participants are largely rewarded while intellectuals get nothing. If we must grow as a country, we must give education a chance to be impactful and this will only be possible when we begin to right the wrongs by creating a platform for people to demonstrate wit and learn even more. In the coming years, the combat will become a national and even international event bring medical students together.”
The event has also been endorsed by the Nigerian Medical Association, Edo State Chapter and the College of Medical Sciences, University of Benin.
